ENERGY SECRETARY RICK Perry reportedly told President Donald Trump on Thursday that he will soon be stepping down from his post in the administration.[
Perry, who has been Trump’s energy secretary since the president took office in 2017, gave his resignation letter to Trump aboard an Air Force One flight to his home state of Texas, according to Bloomberg. This comes after reports that he considered resigning earlier this year.

Democrats’ impeachment inquiry centers on Trump’s July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy asking him to look into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. House Democrats had issued a subpoena to Perry requesting records related to Ukraine, but as early as Wednesday, wouldn’t say whether he’d comply.
In a Wednesday interview with The Wall Street Journal, Perry said that he had spoken with Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani about Ukraine at the direction of the president.
Gordon Sondland, U.S. ambassador to the European Union, confirmed the president’s orders during his closed-door testimony to three impeachment committees. Sondland said that he, Perry and former Ukrainian special envoy Kurt Volker were urged to speak with Giuliani about Ukrainian policy and concerns from Trump about anti-corruption issues.
